Experienced, Compassionate, and Cost-Effective Legal Services for Families of Children with Special Needs

Our Services

Special Education Advocacy and Litigation

We are a parent-side, special education firm devoted to ensuring all students with special needs receive a free appropriate public education. Whether you are seeking an out-of-district placement for your child, trying to increase your child’s access to inclusion programming, or have another concern related to your child’s special education programming, we are here to help.

Civil Rights Violations, Bullying, and Harassment

Students with special needs can face disciplinary measures for many reasons, and often those reasons are related to the child’s underlying disabilities. Your child has the right to certain protections if they have special needs and are being disciplined. We help families navigate disciplinary hearings and ensure that the school district honors your child’s rights.

Student Discipline and Manifestation Determination Hearings

We represent students whose civil rights have been violated due to discrimination based on disability, sex, race, gender identification, sexual orientation or national origin. We also represent families whose children have been bullied or harassed by teachers or by peers.

What do our clients have to say?

“Michelle came highly recommended by a family member whose child went through what we were going through with our daughter.  We are forever grateful for that recommendation. Michelle is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and most importantly compassionate. She took the time to understand our circumstances; educated us on the process and what to expect; and consulted us on how to handle extremely difficult meetings at the school.  One year later and our daughter has been placed at the right school for her needs and for once she is excited about school.”

“Sherry is exactly who you would be fortunate to find during this difficult and emotional time advocating for the needs of your child. I was incredibly fortunate to find her 14 years ago when my son was not receiving appropriate services at school. Not only was she knowledgeable about the law pertaining to him but she also coached me through the steps needed to prove that he was not being properly educated. Through this difficult time she was the calm and empathetic voice I needed to be the best advocate for my son. This is her superpower! “

“If there is one reason why Michelle is so good it’s empathy. She really cares about winning a better education for special education children. She cut through the waffle at IEP meetings with teachers. She cares and respects what parents go through. She always tried to reduce risk and legal costs. Our daughter is happy, making good progress and has a better future because of Michelle’s work.”

“Sherry Rajaniemi-Gregg is an exceptional lawyer. She is well versed in special needs law, she cares about her clients, and she is a driven advocate who can make a meaningful difference for her clients.”
